Hope Church Oswestry is looking to appoint a senior pastor to take overall leadership of the church and its ministry including overseeing a small staff team. We are an independent evangelical church with a pre-Covid morning congregation of 150+. We are at a very exciting stage in the life of the church as we have purchased and begun building a new premises in the centre of Oswestry town.
With a move to the town centre pending, we hope that our community focus and projects will increase and the footfall into the building will rise.
Now is a very exciting time to become a part of Hope Church Oswestry.
We have a number of projects that the church supports, one being Compass, a property in town that homes some of the most vulnerable in our community. We have a number of adult and youth ministries, prayer activities, support a local food bank, youth groups and kids clubs etc..
We aim to be Bible-centred; Jesus- focused; Kingdom-minded; Spirit-led, and in our contemporary services, always seek to keep practical exposition of the word of God, central.
Hope Church is a dynamic, growing community based in the beautiful market town of Oswestry. We have a heart to make a positive impact on Oswestry and see people grow in their Christian faith. We are a diverse group of around 200 adults and children.
The last 12 months has seen most of our activities move online, which has been challenging but also brought many opportunities and new ideas. We have responded to this by recruiting a part-time Digital Manager to help us thrive in an online world and we are keen to continue to learn how to make the best use of these digital opportunities as we start to meet physically.
Here is a flavour of what our church life together looked like pre-covid.:
Home Groups – we have various groups meeting midweek, 2 are age-specific (young adults & older people). We have around 100 adults meeting in 11 groups
PurpleFish – we organise regular social events that friends can be invited to such as quiz nights, craft nights and murder-mystery events
Youth – we have 2 youth groups that meet weekly for discipleship (11-14’s and 14+)

Osbless – this annual event generates over 200 hours of volunteer work for the community and involves 15 projects across 10 partner organisations
Evangelism – we regularly run the Alpha course and guest services
Staff Team – We currently employ a Pastor, an Outreach/Community Facilitator, Digital Manager and a Cleaner in addition to the Children and Youth worker post.
