JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title:                   Minister for Worship

Accountability:         Senior Minister, Leadership Team

 Hours: & Remuneration are negotiable but not less than 0.5 FTE    

 Work Base:               Home / PBC church offices

 

Primary Purpose:     To lead our church community in honouring God with authentic Christian praise and worship incorporating a variety of cultural styles

 

 

Person Specification

Essential

  • A Christian in sympathy with the 30TUEvangelical Alliance Basis of FaithU30T and the 30TUBaptist Union Declaration of Principle
  • A member of PBC (or willing to join the membership)
  • To maintain personal devotion to Christ through personal prayer and bible reading
  • To maintain high standards of Christian conduct (in accordance with our Code of Conduct which can be found in our Staff Handbook)
  • To be a person of vision, seeking to develop a Holy Spirit inspired Praise and Worship ministry of the church in line with the church’s vision and strategy
  • An experienced and capable worship leader and musician comfortable with different expressions of praise and worship
  • A proven leader with excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
  • To lead and relate to church members warmly, appropriately and sensitively
  • To be conversant with contemporary a/v technology used in the production of high quality live and online events
  • Have a legal right to live and work in the UK

 

Desirable

  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Proven ability in the use of a variety of IT applications including MS Office 365
  • Proven ability in the effective use of social media platforms.
  • Experience of leading and training individuals and teams, particularly volunteers
  • A high degree of personal maturity, wisdom and tact
  • Theological training

Role Description

 

Key Tasks:

1.  Leadership

  • To be an enthusiastic and supportive member of the church’s Leadership Team attending team meetings as required.
  • To be an enthusiastic and supportive member of the church’s staff team attending staff meetings whenever possible.
  • To develop a culture of excellence around the church worship of the Lord
  • To oversee the church’s praise and worship at worship services:
    • To deliberately provide a mixed diet of worship styles with the emphasis upon a sensitive ‘Charismatic / Pentecostal’ style
    • To ensure high standards of appropriate praise and worship at PBC weddings and funerals
    • To make appropriate use of more traditional forms of prayer, praise and worship including written congregational prayers and historic Christian confessions
  • In addition to sung praise and worship, to enable and encourage a range of creative expressions of prayer, praise and worship.
  • To lead, encourage and train those involved in leading praise and worship, singing or playing an instrument
  • In partnership with PBC’s youth worker, to develop a culture of worship among the church’s young people and to encourage and train young singers and musicians to be involved in, and given opportunity to lead PBC’s worship.
  • To lead, encourage and train those involved in the use of A/V technology to support both live and online worship services

2.  Public Ministry

  • To lead worship at morning services, not less than twice per month
  • To speak, lead and participate in church services and events as required

3.  Other tasks

  • To carry out any reasonable activity or task requested by the senior minister or the leadership team
  • To be loyal, encouraging and where appropriate offer challenge to other church leaders
  • To pray for the church family both personally and with others – making attendance at PBC prayer meetings a priority
  • Flexibility in working pattern including working some evenings and weekends.
