As a Christian organisation, we are inspired and motivated by our faith in Jesus Christ and the hope and love he has given us. Therefore, the successful candidate will be a committed Christian, able to fully support and promote the ethos of YMCA Exeter and actively take part in the spiritual mission of our work.
In this role, you will engage with the community at Sidwell Studios and seek to provide assistance and signposting to help for any tenant who might start to struggle in managing their accommodation. You will be part of a team that seeks to engage the community of the building and the wider community of St. Sidwells in Exeter in engaging with the many groups and activities that are on offer in the locality (both provided by the YMCA and by others). Under the direction of an experienced manager and as part of a close supportive team, you’ll also be responsible for assisting in group sessions and activities with our young people and helping to facilitate the smooth running of our housing services. You will have the confidence and maturity to work effectively with vulnerable young people, will have some previous experience of working with young people (under 30), be flexible, reliable, a good team player and have good IT skills.
This post will involve working the occasional evening per week to participate in or facilitate groups such as social groups or groups with purpose such as wellbeing, spiritual exploration or skills groups like health eating, sports or arts. We will provide training and help you develop your expertise. As part of YMCA Exeter’s commitment to safeguarding young people, this role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Inspired by Jesus' example, we create supportive, inclusive and energising communities where all young people can belong, contribute and thrive. We provide supported accommodation, wellbeing support, and youth services for children and young people.
