Full time Youth and Children

Job Description

All Saints is a lively and strongly family oriented church (around 250 - 300 adults) located in the amazing city of Bath. We are a pretty eclectic church, standing in the evangelical/charismatic spectrum of churchmanship. Our services, our home-groups and our work in church and in community reflect our diversity. Our strapline is A Church on the Way. We don’t have all the answers by any means but we do seek to follow Jesus Christ faithfully, creatively, sacrificially and joyfully. All Saints has had a mixed team of paid and volunteer workers for many years. These two vacancies arise because our paid children and youth staff moved into new positions (ie into Baptist ministry, back into teaching and other similar roles).  We are now seeking to appoint two people to full-time. permanent posts, who will build on existing work and initiate new work in both church and community settings in line with their own gifts and passions as well as the opportunities that they will create or simply occur over time.

We would love to appoint two people who each have a strong Christian commitment, an evident empathy with children/young people, drive, resilience and, of course, relevant experience.

Both of the roles we are seeking to recruit to are a mix of direct working with children/young people plus overseeing, supporting and managing the work of volunteers, and building a plan and a vision for going forward in both church and community contexts.

Key elements therefore are:

Church-based work: To be the lead person for all our church-based work with children/young people on Sundays, during the week and on special days; this will require taking on existing work but also initiating new work;

Community-based work: To be the lead person for our work with children/youth in the community: this will mainly consist of initiating new work;

 Secondary School Engagement:To develop work within the local church primary school and non-church secondary, being a presence within the school(s) and a vital link between the school(s) and the church; the exact scope of work to be finalised in discussion with the school(s)

Working with Volunteers: To recruit, equip and support volunteers, building the expertise and capacity within the wider church membership and beyond if possible; this is a key part of the post as no one paid person can do all of the work;

Championing the work amongst children/young people: To be the public face or champion of our work with youth, communicating back to the church regularly & in the community and leading from the front;

Keeping our young people safe: To work with the Rector, safeguarding officer and diocese to provide safe spaces and the highest standards in safeguarding;

Collaborating with Others: To work with the wider children’s and youth team and staff team on various projects and issues as together we seek the fullness of the kingdom of God;
