Job Description

The Pastoral Ministry Lead role is crucial to our mission. The post holder will offer essential support and guidance to our church members, attendees, and the local community, helping to nurture and grow our faith and discipleship efforts.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Pastoral Care and Support:

  • Foster pastoral relationships across Community Church.

  • Visit or arrange visits for members unable to attend due to illness or other reasons.

  • Serve as the primary contact for those needing practical, emotional, psychological, or spiritual support.

 

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Lead and develop a pastoral team, helping them reach their full potential.

  • Support Life Group leaders in providing good pastoral care.

  • Be a part of the site Leadership Teams. 

 

Community Engagement and Relationships:

  • Promote a culture of pastoral care through example and encouragement.

  • Build and maintain relationships with pastoral professionals and organisations.

  • Welcome and assist new attendees in integrating into the church community.

 

Program and Resource Management:

  • Organise and promote pastoral care courses, such as Kintsugi Hope, Marriage Course and Alpha.

  • Manage the pastoral ministry budget.

  • Act as the Safeguarding Lead for Vulnerable Adults.

 

Crisis Management:

  • Respond to crises and emergencies with appropriate pastoral care.

  • Provide support during critical situations like bereavement and illness.

  • Develop and implement crisis response plans.

 

Personal and Professional Development:

  • Commit to ongoing personal spiritual growth and professional development.

  • Stay updated with the latest pastoral care practices and mental health knowledge.

  • Participate in relevant training, workshops, and conferences.

 

ABOUT YOU:

  • Mature Christian faith with a deep understanding of the Bible and an active prayer life.

  • Experience in Pastoral Care, formally or informally, with good listening skills and openness to further training.

  • Robust knowledge of mental ill health, with relevant experience or training.

  • Sensitivity and concern for others, both in the church and the wider community.

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work well with others 

  • Flexible and adaptable, ready to share, think about and learn from experience – both your own and with others.

  • Committed to continuing to grow in your relationship with God.

  • A willingness to become a member of Community Church if not already a member. 



WHAT WE OFFER:

  • £27,000pa (Pro-rata for part-time)

  • Hybrid working (minimum 1 day in office)

  • 32 days annual leave (includes bank holidays)

  • As part of our commitment to caring for the individual, you will also receive Supervision and support from the Elders.

 

Occupational Requirement

An occupational requirement exists for the post-holder to be a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

 

Eligibility to Work in the UK

Please note that we cannot currently sponsor work visas, so you must have the right to work in the UK to apply. The job holder must be able to provide evidence of their eligibility to work in the UK before appointment and for the entire duration of employment.

 

DBS Clearance

The job holder is required to obtain and maintain satisfactory DBS clearance for the entire duration of employment.
