The Yorkshire Baptist Association is seeking a part-time Safeguarding Lead to work within our Team. This role with its focus on excellence in safeguarding will make a significant contribution to our vision of ‘making disciples by multiplying healthy churches across Yorkshire’.
This is a new role; previously safeguarding has come under the oversight of our Regional Team Leader with support from the BUGB National Team. The decision to appoint a safeguarding specialist comes in response to an increasing number of requests for support from our member churches and ministers, alongside a recognition of the importance of good safeguarding practises in our shared life together.
The person appointed will lead the Association on matters relating to the protection and safeguarding of children, young people and adults at risk. They will be the first point of contact for the Association Team, YBA Trustees, our member churches, ministers and leaders for safeguarding guidance and support. Utilising their own skills and knowledge, they will also make full use of the Excellence in Safeguarding resources provided by the Baptist Union of GB (BUGB).
This is a flexible part-time role for 40 hours per month, with the successful applicant being able to work from our office in Leeds or from home. Hours will generally be contained within office hours although some evening and weekend work may be required. Please note the salary stated is the full time equivalent.
