Job Description

                                     

Main Duties

 

As the Register Manager you are responsible for the following areas:

 

·       Safeguarding

Function as Cornerstone’s Delegated Officer for Child Protection for the fostering service

As Cornerstone's Designated Safeguarding Officer, liaise with the appropriate LADO and keep the subject of any allegation informed

Maintain appropriate and accurate records including all ‘Events and Notifications’ for Schedule 6 & 7 monitoring  

All accidents, injuries and illnesses of children placed with foster parents to be dealt with

Complaints in relation to children placed with foster parents and their outcomes to be dealt with

Any allegations or suspicions of abuse in respect of children placed with foster parents and the outcome of any investigation

Any unauthorised absence from the foster home of a child accommodated there

Use of any measures of control, restraint or discipline in respect of children accommodated in a foster home

Medication, medical treatment and first aid administered to any child placed with foster parents

 

  • Staffing

Input into updated/refresher safeguarding training for SW staff & Foster Carers

Provide professional supervision for social work staff

Undertaking Probationary Reviews and Annual Appraisals and ensuring the implementation of Action Personal Development and Training Plans

·       Policies and Procedures:

o   Contribute to any amendments, additions or changes to Cornerstone policies & procedures including NMS compliance.

·       Foster carers:

Contribute strategically to the recruitment, vetting, training and ongoing support of foster carers and adopters to enable carers to achieve and maintain the highest standards of practice.

Oversee foster carer training programme

Oversee the Family Finding process.

Liaise with admin regarding respite, details of new placements; any changes in fees, any extra payments and the numbers and availabilities of Foster Carers.

·       Children:

Submit the Annual Ofsted Dataset.

Complete and submit the Reg 25 and Reg 35 reports each year.

In conjunction with the Interim Fostering and Post Adoption Support Team Manager ensure compliance in relation to each child placed with foster parents, with the foster placement agreement and the responsible authority’s plan for the care of the child.

  • Panel:

Quality assurance of any documentation that is presented to Fostering Panel following quality assurance of Panel paperwork.

Act as Panel Advisor

Support the Service Manager with the ongoing training and development of Panel.

 

Together with the Responsible Individual, monitoring, developing and implementing practice guidelines and procedures.

Lead on QA feedback audits.

Auditing files, paperwork as necessary.

Build & maintain relationships with all agencies involved in the team around the child.

Speaking in churches and at conferences to raise awareness of the work and to increase prayer and volunteer support.

Support Service Manager/RI with potential registration of Foundations Matter (Scotland);

Line management of potential Foundations Matter manager in Scotland;

Any other reasonable tasks within your capacity as required from time to time.

Terms & Conditions

 

Hours:             Full time (40 hours per week)

 

Terms:             Permanent; 6-month probationary period.

 

Location:        Within commutable distance from Doncaster or Gateshead office. The role will be a hybrid flexible one with an agreed minimum number of hours worked in the office, and the remainder worked at various offices/locations and the applicant’s home.

 

Holidays:         25 days per annum.

 

Salary:            Band 5 in 24-25 (£48,263-53,963).

 

Pension:         Eligible to join our pension scheme based on a generous employer’s contribution of 6% and voluntary employee contribution of 3%. The successful postholder will be automatically enrolled three months after employment commences.
