Hope Church Wirral exists to see all people find hope in Jesus. We are a vibrant, growing church in the heart of Hoylake, with an active youth programme and a strong presence in the local community. Over 40 under-18s attend our children’s and youth activities each week, and we have over 30 young people on our database.  We’re committed to creating more opportunities to engage children, young people, families, and adults through relevant ministries and partnerships.

About Hoylake

Hoylake is a coastal town with a population of around 13,500. Our local community is made up primarily of young families from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, and we serve the wider Wirral area through our ministries and outreach.

Job Purpose

To lead and grow Hope Church’s youth ministry, helping young people (ages 10–18) and their families - both from church and non-church backgrounds - to become followers of Jesus and grow in faith and understanding.

To contribute to the Church leadership team and help drive the Vision, Mission, and Values of the church.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Develop vision, strategy, and practical actions in consultation with the Pastor and Leadership Team to grow a youth ministry that is both relevant and engaging - with a clear focus on discipleship and outreach.

  • Build relationships with families both within the church and the community, visiting them and supporting them on their young people’s faith development journey.

  • Identify, recruit and manage appropriate volunteers to be part of the teams, providing relevant training and support to enable them to fulfil their roles.

  • Deliver Youth work sessions in a range of settings both in and outside the church

  • Build relationships and collaborate with local schools, delivering assemblies, supporting lessons, running mentoring schemes, and offering lunchtime groups.

  • Work in collaboration with Head of Children’s work to help children transition into the youth work and work on joint ventures together.

  • Contribute to the overall leadership of the Church and participate in the life of the whole church, prayer meetings, leadership meetings, Connect Groups, and leading groups when required/requested.

  • Support and contribute to wider activities which may be seen as strategically important to the church.

  • Undertake associated tasks including maintaining appropriate records and volunteer rotas, undertaking risk assessments, ensuring health and safety, and safeguarding compliance.

  • Ensure full compliance with all Church policies, including safeguarding and financial governance, and commit to regular training relevant to the role.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • A strong personal faith in Jesus and full support of the Vision, Mission, and Values of Hope Church.

  • A commitment to personal spiritual growth and a willingness to lead and serve.

  • Experience leading youth work sessions and building relationships with young people.

  • Experience working with families and confidence communicating with all ages.

  • Self-motivated with excellent organisational skills and the ability to think creatively and work on own initiative.

  • Confidence using ICT and social media platforms (YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram, etc).

  • Ability to work within a budget.

  • Willingness to be an appropriate role model for young people and the wider church.

Desirable:

  • Theological training or a relevant degree/diploma.

  • Experience in leadership and managing volunteers, including training and support.
