Job Description

We are looking for a Youth Pastor to work with our youth in school years 6-13, as part of the Youth and Children’s Ministry department at St Albans Vineyard. There is also the opportunity to apply for an enhanced role heading up the Youth and Children’s Ministry department with additional ministry opportunity.

To assist in the outworking and development of the vision, mission and purpose of the St Albans Vineyard Church. In particular to be responsible for the development and execution of the youth ministry.

YOUTH MINISTRY:
The Youth Pastor’s main responsibility is to ensure that every young person within the church has an effective discipleship experience through Sunday services, one-to-one sessions, mid-week meetings and socials. These regular activities will be supported by weekends away, missions and residential trips.
Sunday:
• Ensure excellent provision of onsite (when possible) and online/blended services that are easily accessible by all the youth.
• Ensure there are appropriate group leaders and teams for Youth during the church
services and other occasions as required.
• Teach and lead groups within the youth ministry when in operation, as required.
• Research and develop teaching materials and resources for groups as appropriate.
• Ensure teaching resources are prepared and in place for Sunday.
• Develop a culture and practice of being “naturally supernatural” within the youth
ministry.
• Encourage participation in the wider life of the church.


One-to-one
• Ensure each young person has the opportunity for one-to-one meetings in order to enable and encourage them to discover and develop the faith and gifting.
• Provide suitable inspiration and material for one-to-ones to be effective.


Midweek & Socials:
• Provide opportunities for all young people to be part of a youth connect group.
• Provide direction for the youth connect group leaders.
• Research and develop teaching materials and resources for groups as appropriate.
• Visit and oversee youth connect groups regularly.
• Grow and develop the Youth Night (social) youth activities and events.
• Ensure there are appropriate group leaders and team for Youth Night sessions.
• Ensure the young people have a regular opportunity to meet and socialise with each other and key members of the church.
• Consider and put into operation where appropriate other events and activities as part
of the youth ministry e.g. residentials and socials etc.
• Encourage the youth to take part in and serve at various church events e.g. courses,
Conferences, teams and other special events.


Staff & Team:
• Line Manager the Assistant Youth Pastor, providing support and guidance as required.
• Identify, recruit, train and develop leaders and team members for youth, in line with
visions and values of St Albans Vineyard.
• Ensure appropriate pastoral care for team leaders and team members.
• Provide opportunities for team building for team leaders and team members,
including “Thank you” events.
• Meet regularly with youth coordinators to pray, guide and support and to give vision
and direction on overall concerns, practical and spiritual (as required).
• Provide resources, training and information to the team as required.
• Meet with and support interns as required.


Youth Worship
• Encourage the development of worship within the youth, in partnership with the Worship department and Ventureland Pastor.
• Create opportunities for the youth to develop in the worship ministry.


Mission
• Collaborate with other churches and organisations to create opportunities for the young people to share their faith.


Administration:
• Carry out administration appropriate to the role including phone calls and
correspondence with teams and parents.
• Provide rotas, mailings and database management in liaison with the admin
Department where appropriate.
• Ensure adherence to implementation of policy, including safeguarding children.
• Assist with processing the DBS checks for youth volunteers.
• Plan and manage youth budget working with line manager/finance dept.
• Ensure website is up to date, working with the Comms team to provide relevant digital communication on all platforms (website/social media).
• Ensure quality of rooms and cleanliness of equipment is maintained, assisted by the building team where appropriate.
• Maintain attendance records, rotas and databases and provide reports as required.
• Ensure teaching materials are prepared/ordered/assembled ahead of time.
• Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained and order materials and collate as
appropriate.
• Ensure events and room bookings are all entered in ChurchSuite calendar.


Section 2
Youth & Children’s Ministry Department Head
In addition to operating as the Youth Pastor, this enhanced role will also oversee both the children’s and youth ministries, bringing synergy and unity to the department.


Children’s Ministry:
• Function as Line Manager to the Vineyard Village and Ventureland Pastors.
• Work with and support the Vineyard Village and Ventureland Pastors to set the vision
and develop/implement strategy for the children’s ministry.
• Provide support during Sunday services as required.
• Support the Children’s Ministry team to organise extra events such as Christmas,
Alternative Halloween etc.as required.
• Provide support to the Vineyard Village and Ventureland Pastors in setting and
managing budgets.
18s-25s Ministry:
• Explore and develop a new ministry focused on the 18s-25s, including opportunities
for them for discipleship and ministry as well as social events.
• Develop team to support the 18s-25s ministry.


Ministry:
• Function as a part of the wider staff team as required.
• Take part in and serve at various church events e.g. courses, services, conferences, prayer and other special events.
