Job Description

We are looking for an experienced church leader to join us as a full time Senior Pastor / Senior Leader, someone who will oversee all aspects of the church life and lead a small staff team. We are seeking someone to work with the Leadership Team to provide clear direction on the Strategy and Vision for Redeemer King in line with our core values and share this in a way that engages the entire church family to actively get involved. We need someone who will lead us in reaching the most hurting, broken and lost in our community, and build the church through effective discipleship, teaching, prayer and pastoral care.

Background:

 Redeemer King Church was founded in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, by 5 couples in 2014. Since then, the church has grown into a vibrant community of around 200 adults and around 60 children, established a Christians Against Poverty debt centre in 2018 and joining the Edge Network in 2019, a new network of churches looking to reach forgotten people in forgotten places with the Gospel.

Our Vision is that God had called us to establish a large, vibrant, Bible-believing and spirit-filled church that would sacrificially serve the town and surrounding areas in order to reach the most hurting, broken and lost.

The team is made up of a full-time Operations Manager and 4 part-time staff currently covering our Chesterfield Congregation, Children’s work, Teaching and Discipleship and Pastoral Care.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Vision – To work with the Leadership Team to provide clear direction on the Strategy and Vision for Redeemer King and share this in a way that engages the entire church family to actively get involved.

Preaching and Teaching – To agree a preaching and teaching programme with the Leadership team and actively participate in the weekly preaching.

Evangelism – to agree and facilitate suitable outreach to reach and engage our local communities

Pastoral Care – to lead the way regarding pastoral care, ensuring that all the church family are supported and ensure that any pastoral issues are handled well.

Building the team – guide the staff team, providing mentoring and personal development opportunities in order to unlock their potential and be fruitful.

Communications – To ensure clear and unambiguous communication to the church on website, email and social media channels and provide clear communication in all church services.

Governance – Work with the Leadership Team and Trustees to ensure that we are compliant with relevant legislation including the Charities Commission, Health and Safety Executive, and Safeguarding.

 

The Person we need…

  • Ability to cast vision and gather people to work to make the vision a reality.
  • Significant experience of church leadership and fruitful ministry (experience in a growing church of 150+ people is desirable).
  • A real heart for people, especially those who are hurting and broken.
  • Ability to relate easily to people of all ages and backgrounds and build relationships with the church family and members of the community.
  • Strong leader with the ability to build and grow a strong team around the common goal of making Jesus known in our communities.
  • Enthusiastic with the ability to identify and develop gifts in others and grow a successful team.
  • Ability to share the gospel in a clear and relevant way to our community.

Place of work

Work from home (this will change when we have our own premises).

Hours of work

This is a full-time post and the normal hours of work are 40 hours a week. Actual hours / days of work may vary from week to week and will include evening and weekend work.

Annual leave

25 days holiday plus bank holidays
