Canterbury Baptist Church

At Canterbury Baptist Church, we are passionate about following Jesus and seeing lives transformed by Him. Our vision is simple yet profound:

  • Know Jesus – Cultivating deep intimacy with Him
  • Become Like Him – Being transformed into His likeness through apprenticeship
  • Do As He Did – Living out His mission in the world

We believe that ‘God doesn’t have a mission for His people, but a people for His mission’ (Christopher Wright) and as such He has given the Church numerous gifts to equip the people for works of service. Our desire is to raise up leaders who are rooted in Christ, shaped by His Spirit, and equipped to build up His body using the gifts they have received. Beyond our local church, we have a vision to support and strengthen other Baptist churches, working in unity to bring renewal and kingdom impact across our wider church family.

We are a Church based in the centre of historical Canterbury, a World Heritage Site. The church has been through quite a few changes in the past two years as we have over doubled in size, with an average attendance of 170 on a Sunday morning. We now have over sixty children and young people worshipping with us and we are beginning to see a strong student community emerge. We are blessed with a very multicultural congregation, with numerous nationalities and age groups represented.

We also have a strong presence in the community both through our work with internationals, but also our Hub Café, which serves over a hundred people during the week with both food provision, as well as mental and spiritual health support and practical assistance.

Canterbury Baptist Church is an exciting place to be right now, and we are responding to His blessing by searching for the right team member to support the Minister, grow in their own giftings, and be a part of God’s work in Canterbury.
