The Source was founded in 2000 to provide support, with Christian values, to young people in the Aldershot and Farnborough area. Since then, retaining its Christian ethos, it has developed a range of quality, professional services. The Source is widely respected and works with many statutory and other providers. It is strongly supported by both Rushmoor Borough Council and Hampshire County Council.
The Source works to help young people in Rushmoor, Hart and West Surrey overcome the barriers to thriving and success. The original evening café for young people still operates and is now supported by detached youth work, counselling, and anger management. We seek to provide holistic support, and work with many other agencies and social services. Over the last year we have started a social enterprise, Bike Start, which recycles unwanted bikes and provides bicycle maintenance training for young people. In October 2015, The Source moved to new offices near the Aldershot town centre.
We exist to make contact with and develop young people aged between 11 and 25.We focus on those who have difficulties at school, are in trouble with the law, struggle with family relationships, or live on their own, homeless, or isolated from mainstream society. Typically, our young people come from four of the most deprived wards in our area. Our projects allow young people to “Be, Belong and Become” and to move forward into a fulfilment of their potential. The paid staff are a small dedicated team seeking to model service and servant leadership, and are supported by over 50 volunteers. We have waiting lists for many programmes, particularly counselling and anger management.
