Christ's Hope International UK

Within sub-Saharan Africa, CHI works mainly with vulnerable, disadvantaged and orphaned children in extreme poverty, aged 4-18, often on the edge of local society. Many of the children live in ‘shanty towns’ without one or both parents. Family life may be severely disrupted due to the impact of persistent poverty, unemployment, chronic illness, AIDS, and stress in relationships.

Our aim is to help the child to live successfully within a family in the local community through:

  • meeting basic needs by ensuring that the child is supported with appropriate care, shelter and food
  • enhancing personal well-being and health
  • fostering the development of Christian faith and discipleship
  • ensuring access to education and schooling
  • providing opportunities to build positive social relationships

At present the UK Trustees raise approximately £20,000 per annum. Much more is donated in kind, for example the UK Trustees and local volunteers work ‘pro bono’ without payment or expenses on behalf of the organisation.

Internationally, CHI has an annual budget of approximately two million US dollars, about 250 staff and volunteers, and supports almost 2000 children. CHI international has ambitious plans to increase the number of children supported to 6000 over the next five years.
