The parish of Mottram in Longdendale

We are an Anglican church, situated in the top of Chester diocese, with the Manchester conurbation to the west and open moors of the High Peak district to the east. While the parish appears to be rural from the situation of the church, we serve in a parish consisting of  the villages of Broadbottom and Mottram and stretching over to the East side of Hattersley. There are three primary schools in the parish and two high schools within easy reach.

There has been a church community here for 700 years with a clear historical outlook to serving the community. However, local families have struggled during covid and the subsequent rise in the cost of living and we are looking to search out where need is greatest and how God is calling the church to serve and to enable in these times.

In recent years the church has supported the training and development of both lay and ordained ministry and is seeking to do likewise with this new role.
