All Saints’ is an Anglo-Catholic resolution parish with quite a plain and simple modern catholic style. On an average Sunday, there will be around 65 adults and 25 children attending across the two services; and an additional 25 adults at the midweek Eucharist; with a class from school also attending that service every other week. Our vision for All Saints’ Church is fully to inhabit the church’s Eucharistic spirituality while growing a love for the Bible through preaching, teaching, and study; and gradually making evangelism a priority. In ten years’ time, we’re praying for a church community in which there are no ‘missing generations,’ that is biblically literate, and that is clear on the gospel and sharing it in word and living it out in deed to bless our village.
New Longton is a village parish to the South West of Preston (though in Leyland Deanery) with a population of around 4000. Our parish is a tight-knit village community with one primary school (a very good VA Church School), a Sports and Social Club (by the cricket and football fields), a pub, a handful of shops, and both a Church of England parish church (All Saints’) and a Methodist church with whom we hold an ecumenical service/event twice a year. The vicar is the only priest, though we have recently engaged a PA for 8 hours a week to help with administration; and have an ordinand on placement with us for 3 days a week until summer 2024. There are ~150 on the electoral roll.
