Lymm Baptist Church

Lymm Baptist Church (LBC) is a large, welcoming and flourishing evangelical church situated in a beautiful part of Cheshire. Our congregation is truly multi-generational and averages 150- 160 on most Sundays. The history of the church can be traced back to the 1740’s and a brief summary is included later. Within our fellowship we provide a wide range of activities from engaging youth and children’s ministries that connect and disciple our younger members, to small groups fostering spiritual growth and fellowship among adults. During the week, LBC is also a hive of community activity playing host to many groups serving the local population and sharing the love of Jesus in both practical and spiritual ways. At LBC our vision is to be a ‘distinctly Christian community at the heart of Lymm, rooted in the word of God and empowered by the Spirit of God’. From the birth of that vision in 2017, a central theme emerged of streams of living water flowing from the church, and tied to specific texts from the scriptures. It has been our joy to see God working this vision out in the three areas of Recreating Community, Reaching Neighbours, and Growing Disciples. In some of these areas we have seen the transforming power of the Holy Spirit move dramatically, but in all three areas there is yet much that we long to see. Alongside a dedicated Leadership Team, talented Staff Team, and many gifted and committed members, we now seek a Lead Minister to work with us in further enabling the work and mission of LBC. We are currently in the process of creating ethos statements on sexuality and gender. Regarding women in leadership, we have welcomed women as leaders, as trustees, and in preaching and teaching. We are therefore open to applications from women although we have not previously experienced a female minister. We trust this profile captures the essence of who we are – our joys and challenges, and our heart for the future. Together we continue to seek God with anticipation for His leading into the next chapter of our story. It has been an uplifting exercise to compile this profile and commit many encouraging things in the life of our church to paper. We are ever mindful, however, that no local expression of church is perfect (far from it). We acknowledge our earthly limitations and lean into God through whom all things are possible. Understanding there are often new ways or better ways of doing most aspects of church life, we continue to look to God for his direction and for when and where he may be doing a new thing.
