The Church of St Margaret's, Chipstead, is in the Diocese of Southwark. We have an online BCP service each week and a live service in Church at 10am on a Sunday offering contemporary and traditional worship. Our children and youth groups meet during this service. Our mission is to know and share God's transforming love with one another, with our local community and with the wider world.
Christ Centred
St Margaret’s aims to be a Christian community where we continue to grow in making prayer the heartbeat of our common life and where we become more comfortable with sharing our own stories of faith. Our expectation is that we will experience the healing of Christ in body, mind and spirit and also that life changing encounters with Jesus will happen as part of our normal life together.
Unified and Diverse
St Margaret’s aims to be a Christian community that is completely united in Christ but that also values our diversity in worship, age and social background. We will express and display this unity in different ways.
Welcoming and Hospitable
St Margaret’s aims to be a Christian community where all are equally welcome, included and valued. We long to be a community that is accessible to all. As we have experienced the generous and outrageous welcome of Christ so we wish to extend that welcome to one another and to others.
Relational
St Margaret’s aims to be a Christian community where we are growing in loving relationships with God, one another and our communities. We long to be a place where all can be honest about the struggles of real life. Where all are equally cared for and loved and where each person can find a place of belonging.
Valuing tradition but open to change
St Margaret’s aims to be a Christian community that values the best of our traditions and shared story. We will respect those traditions whilst also being open to change and new approaches.
Enabling and Equipping God’s people
St Margaret’s aims to be a Christian community that equips its members to live more effectively as Christian disciples in our everyday lives and where we continue to grow in depth of faith. We also aim to help each person find their role in the church and will equip them to be effective in that role.
Open
St Margaret’s aims to be a Christian community that is open and welcoming to the wider parish and local communities. That seeks to serve local people regardless of their beliefs and is non-judgemental and respectful. We also aim to be open to learning from and working in partnership with other churches and agencies.
Mission Shaped
St Margaret’s aims to be a Christian community that is shaped by the ‘five marks of mission’. We seek to grow in proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ, in teaching, nurturing and baptising new believers, in participating in acts of loving service, in challenging injustice and caring for God’s creation. We recognise that this mission is our responsibility in the parish where God has placed us but we also seek to partner with others in this mission around God’s world.
Passionate
St Margaret’s aims to be a Christian community that is continuing to grow in passion for God. That is hungry to grow through the bible, sacraments and the work of the Holy Spirit and where there is a tangible excitement about faith in Jesus Christ which overflows into real joy and a love of life.
Our hope, prayer and aim is that we will grow and encourage one another in each of these values over the coming years…’
