Walton-on-Thames Methodist Church

Walton-on-Thames Methodist Church provides a spiritual home to its 63 members, including an engaged and enthusiastic group of 13 young people (aged between 7 and 15).
Traditionally, the congregation at Walton-on-Thames Methodist Church have worshipped every Sunday morning at 10am. Our worship is traditional in its grounding with occasional modern
elements. Over the past year, we have developed our Online Worship Offering which includes Tea & Fellowship via Zoom at 4pm every week and bi-weekly 10am Live Streamed Services which can be found on our YouTube Channel.  We also provide a varied activity programme for all our members including two groups for ladies (W.I.T.S & Friendship Club), a Walking Group, a Prayer Group, frequent Bible Study groups and occasional Café Church style worship services.  We also have good ecumenical relationships with other local churches in Walton-on-Thames and meet with them for joint prayer meetings and services a few times a year.

Before the COVID-19 Pandemic, our young people met during weekly Sunday School sessions, monthly Messy Church meetings, and the occasional Youth Outing or Youth Activity Session. Over the past few months, our young people have met bi-weekly for Activity Sessions via Zoom. Of the 13 churches in the Wey Valley Circuit, only Trinity Woking has a regular group of young people, who are led by a dedicated Youth Worker. From 2013-2015, Walton-on-Thames Methodist Church employed a Youth Worker who worked with our previous cohort of young people. During this time, our Youth Group met bi-weekly for 2 hour sessions in our Church Hall, in addition to regular outings (e.g. Trampoline Park, Ice Skating etc.). Furthermore, across this period a number of Residential Trips were organised. This was a time when the youth really flourished and we are keen to develop and further this legacy with our newest young people.
