Re:Ignite Church was planted by Alastair & Janet Murdoch in 2012 with a vision to have a church in revival that would restore hope to the town and the church, partly by buying and transforming the old Apollo Cinema as a place for the town. See www.exchangeblackburn.org.uk for more.
We would describe ourselves as Spirit-led and Bible-based. Our Sunday Gatherings and other occasions have a contemporary feel, with many different people leading worship, hosting and speaking. Our strap-line is, "To be a place where people encounter God, become part of a family and are equipped to impact their world… and beyond!"
We love pursuing the presence of God in worship and have a small (about 40) but very active church family. We have a house for the homeless, we run a "Spirit Café" and we work closely with other local churches. We have started running Spirit Café in the local college and are overwhelmed with interest from young people. We want to recruit a younger assistant leader to help respond to this.
We're part of the local church unity movement, "RISE" / Love Blackburn with Darwen.
We are affiliated with Global Awakening (www.globalawakeningeurope.org ). We’re members of the Evangelical Alliance and part of Bethel Leaders Network.
