£32,000 yearly

Job Description

Minister (full-time or part-time)

Growing together in Christ, serving the community, sharing Jesus’ love

Cathcart United Free Church of Scotland is seeking a minister (full-time or part-time).  We are a small warm-hearted congregation (around 40 members), based in the Cathcart community on the south-side of Glasgow. As a church family we’re committed to growing in faith, loving one another deeply and reaching out with the hope of the gospel to our local community. We value our covenant partnership with Cathcart Church of Scotland and we also work closely with Cathcart Baptist Church.

We worship on Sunday and Wednesday mornings and have a prayer time on Monday evenings. On Sunday evenings we worship jointly with Cathcart Church of Scotland. We're at an exciting season of discernment about how God is calling us to serve our neighbourhood more intentionally.

We seek a minister who will work with us and lead us forward, encouraging spiritual maturity, fostering meaningful relationships, and helping us engage more faithfully with those around us.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a relational, small-church environment where flexibility, creativity, and a collaborative spirit are essential. Working in partnership with a committed group of elders and members who are eager to grow and serve together, we are looking for someone to help shape the future of our church’s ministry.

The Person

The minister who flourishes here will be someone who embraces the particularities of small-church life and enjoys equipping others for ministry rather than doing everything themselves.

You will be:

·         Theologically aligned with evangelical and egalitarian values

·         Ordained (or eligible for ordination) within a Presbyterian tradition, or willing to work within its framework

We are looking for someone who is:

·         A teacher of Scripture – passionate about the Bible and able to make its relevance clear for daily living

·         A collaborative leader – one who is prepared to empower others and committed to help our members discover and use their God-given abilities

·         A shepherd at heart – warm and attentive, creating an environment where people experience genuine love, compassion and a sense of belonging

·         A seeker of direction – guiding the congregation to discern God’s purposes through Scripture, prayer, and thoughtful discernment

·         Devoted to prayer – dedicated to cultivating a rich practice of prayer both individually and as a church body

·         Outward-focused – inspiring the congregation to embrace its mission in the local community and beyond

Terms & Remuneration

Hours: This post may be full-time or part-time (minimum 3 days equivalent per week) depending on the candidate's availability and calling.

Salary: £32,000 per annum (pro rata for part-time), commensurate with experience and qualifications, in line with denominational guidelines.

Benefits: Pension, opportunities for professional development e.g. conference attendance, further study. In addition, for the full-time post, we offer a manse close to the church in a peaceful residential area of Cathcart.
