Music Minister

Job Description

Located in the vibrant city of Brighton and Hove, Bishop Hannington is an evangelical church with a heart set on growing disciples of Christ in our city and for the world.

This is an exciting opportunity to build on the fruitful work already in place.  Under the guidance of our Clergy team, the Worship Minister will:

  • Lead and develop the musical life at BH including regular Sunday worship, festivals and outreach opportunities

  • Lead and nurture a team of capable and willing musicians whilst seeking to widen the involvement of the church family

  • Act as a key member of the church ministry team as they develop and implement the vision and direction of the church

Working within a supportive staff team, the successful candidate will need to work well with others and seek to contribute to the wider life of the church.  This will involve having a leading role in recruiting, training and supporting volunteers and interns.

An understanding of strong safeguarding practice and an active commitment to the full implementation of the church’s Safeguarding Policy is essential.

Hours: The core responsibilities of the Music Minister are fully deliverable within 22 hours per week. The hours will include Sundays and some evening work in line with the life of the church.

We recognise that some applicants may be seeking a full-time position. For the right candidate, there may be an opportunity to expand the role up to full-time hours (40 hours per week) by incorporating additional areas of ministry responsibility, depending on experience and gifting.

These additional responsibilities could include areas such as women’s ministry, prayer ministry, technical and service operations oversight, social media and communications, graphic design, or bookkeeping.

The precise shape of any expanded role would be agreed in conversation with the successful candidate and aligned with the needs and vision of the church.

Please specify if you would be interested in this additional work in your application. However, appointment will be focussed on the ability to meet the requirements of the substantive role.

Application Deadline:  9th March 2026

Interview date: We hope to interview on Saturday 28th March 2026
