Kids Pastor

Job Description

Role Purpose

SOUL Church is seeking a passionate and visionary Kids Pastor to lead and develop our children’s ministry (ages 0–11). This role carries full responsibility for ensuring that every child encounters the love of God, grows in their faith, and feels safe, valued, and connected within church life.

The Kids Pastor will pioneer and implement engaging, faith-filled strategies that disciple children, equip parents, and mobilise teams—building a ministry that is safe, fun, excellent, and fully aligned with the wider vision of SOUL Church.

Key Responsibilities

Vision & Leadership

  • Take full ownership of the Kids Ministry, leading with passion, integrity, and creativity
  • Establish and communicate a clear vision aligned with SOUL Church’s mission
  • Develop and implement a discipleship pathway for children
  • Build a culture of fun, faith, and excellence that engages children and their families

Programme Oversight

  • Design, plan, and deliver age-appropriate programmes across all kids’ groups (Sunday services, midweek activities, and special events)
  • Ensure all teaching and content is biblically sound, engaging, and relevant
  • Lead and oversee seasonal events such as holiday clubs, family outreach initiatives, and kids’ camps

Team Development

  • Recruit, train, and pastor a dynamic volunteer team
  • Provide clear leadership, pastoral support, and encouragement
  • Develop a leadership pipeline to raise and equip future Kids Ministry leaders

Pastoral Care & Safeguarding

  • Provide pastoral oversight to children and families, offering care and support where needed
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding, ensuring all policies and procedures are fully implemented and upheld
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming environment where every child is protected and valued
  • Ensure appropriate adult-to-child ratios are consistently met

Administration & Operations

  • Manage Kids Ministry budgets, resources, and facilities responsibly
  • Oversee check-in systems, health and safety processes, and safeguarding documentation
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with parents, families, and the wider church community

 

Skills & Attributes

Essential

  • A clear personal faith in Jesus Christ and a heart for children’s ministry
  • Proven leadership and people-management skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative ability
  • Confident and engaging communicator with children and adults
  • Pastoral, approachable, and trustworthy
  • Creative and resourceful in teaching and programme delivery
  • Strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and accountability
  • Relevant experience in children’s work or children’s ministry
  • Working knowledge of safeguarding practices

Desirable

  • PGCE or equivalent qualification
  • Formal safeguarding qualification
  • Good understanding of theology
