Outreach Cook

£13.80 - £14.50 hourly

Job Description

We are looking for someone who loves Jesus, loves people and loves cooking to help us fulfil our aims of hospitality, outreach and community building.

Are you:

·         Passionate about everyday cooking and healthy eating?

·         Either a qualified chef or an experienced cook?

·         Keen to equip others to improve their life skills and wellbeing?

·         Keen to join a team sharing God’s love with those on the margins?

The role includes:

·         cooking and kitchen management (training can be given in both)

·         leading community initiatives such as ‘healthy cooking on a budget’ groups

·         exploring starting a CAP Life Skills course with the team

Essential training will be given and the post holder would receive further training and mutual support through the Diocese’s urban pioneer network. 

Given the nature and context of the work, it is an occupational requirement that the post holder should be a communicant member of either the Church of England or a church within Churches Together in Britain and Ireland or the Evangelical Alliance, or a church that adheres to the Nicene Creed in its belief and practice, in order to fulfil the main purpose of the post. This post is therefore exempt under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

Hours:  16-21 per week

Salary:  £13.80-£14.50 per hour

Annual leave:  5 weeks per annum

A contributory pension is available.
