Mitcham Lane Baptist Church is seeking a passionate Youth and Community Worker to pioneer and develop faith-based youth work with 11–18s in Furzedown, South London. This exciting role combines outreach, discipleship and community engagement, offering the opportunity to shape vibrant, inclusive youth programmes that support young people’s emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing and help them explore the Christian faith. The Director of Children’s Ministry is a key role within the staff team at St Stephen’s.   Currently there are 4 main strands to our children’s ministry that this person will lead and oversee:    Church based kid’s ministry and discipleship.  Community pre-school and families (led by part-time communities families pastor). School’s ministry (currently 3 local primary schools); and Parenting (building community and pastoral support).   We are looking for a committed leader with a heart for children and families to oversee and grow our 0–11 ministry. We are looking for someone passionate about reaching young people not currently in church with the gospel, and who is looking to begin a career in church youth work. This post is designed for someone new to paid youth work, with high quality training opportunities and supportive environments to learn in. This role oversees Wycliffe’s ministry with 8-13s, helping them explore faith in Jesus together and planning for successful transition from children’s ministry into youth ministry. This is about creating a fun, welcoming and safe space to belong, learning to be church together and grow in confidence to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with their friends.
