YOUTH MINISTRY LEAD

£26,000 - £28,000 yearly

Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To lead and deliver Lifecentral Church's youth ministry (11-18s) in alignment with the vision, values and strategic direction set by the Senior Leadership Team.

This role focuses on excellent programme delivery, volunteer leadership, and discipleship of young people, while contributing to the wider life and mission of the church.

MAIN DUTIES

Programme Coordination and Engagement

  • Organise and lead weekly youth gatherings, including Sunday youth sessions and midweek youth programmes.
  • Support the delivery of outreach initiatives and social events designed to engage young people both within the church and wider community.
  • Create, welcoming, safe and engaging environments where young people feel known, valued and encouraged in their faith journey.
  • Ensure all sessions and activities are well organised, resourced and delivered to a high standard.

Curriculum Development and Implementation

  • Adapt and deliver age-appropriate curriculum and teaching content in alignment with church vision.
  • Facilitate small groups and discipleship pathways that support spiritual growth and maturity.
  • Encourage young people to explore faith, ask questions and grow in a personal relationship with Jesus.
  • Identify and develop young leaders, helping them serve within the life of the church.

Volunteer Management and Leadership

  • Recruit, train and lead a team of volunteers serving within youth ministry.
  • Provide ongoing support, encouragement and development for volunteers.
  • Foster a healthy, unified team culture as part of the wider Dream Team.
  • Work within established safeguarding policies and procedures, modelling best practice at all times.

Pastoral Care and Discipleship

  • Build positive, consistent relationships with young people.
  • Provide appropriate pastoral support within role boundaries.
  • Escalate complex pastoral or safeguarding concerns to the NextGen Pastor in line with church policy.

Social Media & Communications

  • Help create engaging content to showcase youth ministry activities and reach young people through social media channels.
  • Use social media to communicate programme information, events, and encouragement to young people in the church and wider community.
  • Maintain regular operational communication with parents and carers regarding youth activities and events.
  • Foster positive relationships with families in partnership with the NextGen Pastor.

Community Engagement

  • Support and develop connections with local schools to create opportunities for young people to engage with faith.
  • Help coordinate youth-focused outreach and engagement initiatives working alongside Phase Trust.
  • Represent the youth ministry positively in the wider community and help identify new opportunities for partnership and outreach.

Events & Wider Church Contribution

  • Work alongside the NextGen Pastor in planning and delivering special youth events (.e.g. weekenders, Limitless Festival, community events).
  • Take an active role in wider church life, including staff meetings, team meetings, and relevant ministry forums.
  • Contribute up to one day per week (or agreed equivalent) to wider church initiatives beyond youth ministry, as directed.

OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT

In accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the post holder to be a practising Christian. The role involves actively supporting and contributing to the Christian ethos and ministry of the church and the post holder will be expected to participate in the spiritual life of the church community, including collective worship, prayer gatherings, and weekly staff devotions. The post holder's beliefs and lifestyle should therefore be consistent with the values and teachings of the Christian faith.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hrs/week), although part-time will be considered.

Enhanced DBS: The successful applicant will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service), which will include a Children's Barred List check prior to employment. This is a legal requirement for all roles in regulated activity with children and young people. Employment will be conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory DBS disclosure.

Desirable requirement: A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.
