This role operates from within the HarperCollins Christian Publishing and HarperCollins Focus 360 business unit, part of a global publishing and distribution initiative within HarperCollins. This unit is responsible for the distribution, marketing, publicity, and sales of HarperCollins Christian Publishing and HarperCollins Focus titles from the US into the UK marketplace.
For this role we are looking for an experienced marketer to plan, deliver, and execute marketing and publicity campaigns for our leading new releases across the list and to deliver campaigns that contribute to the continued growth in our backlist. We are looking for someone already working as a marketing manager looking for an opportunity to grow and develop, and the successful candidate for this exciting opportunity will join as either a Marketing Manager or Senior Marketing Manager, depending on experience.
Key tasks and accountabilities
- Planning and delivering creative and innovative marketing campaigns for major releases and backlist across the division that will create cut-through and deliver sales.
- Create and deliver impactful and sales-driving publicity campaigns in line with key objectives across titles and brand authors
- Develop and deliver marketing campaigns focussed on Churches and the church market
- Planning and tracking marketing and publicity plans for new releases, delivering reports to the Affiliate Publisher and regular team meetings
- Grow and develop digital campaigns including social media and data-driven online innovation
- Target and secure review and feature coverage across relevant media, including newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, podcasts, online and social media
- Plan and execute online and in-person author events to raise author profile and generate sales
- Ensuring that delivery of all creative, media and digital plans are on brief and in budget
- Measuring and evaluating campaigns, sharing learnings and optimising for future activity
- Supporting a culture of collaboration and integration, working closely with the HCCP-HCF 360 team and the broader US and UK teams to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met
Skills required
- Experience in marketing and publicity roles in publishing or a similar industry
- Experience of planning, tracking, and delivering marketing campaigns
- Experience of planning and executing publicity campaigns
- Some understanding of the UK Christian Church market and, preferred, the distinctives of different denominations
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple competing deadlines, prioritising and delegating effectively
- Understanding of the trade publishing market and book buyers
- Experience of working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- Creative and innovative thinking and flair
- A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders across the business and externally
