Worship Lead - Part-time

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who with a heart to see the congregation encounter God’s presence in worship and is passionate about cultivating a Spirit-filled, Jesus-centred culture of worship across the church.  

This is a permanent part-time role, 20 hours per week.

Key responsibilities 

You will: 

• Lead, coordinate and oversee sung worship at Sunday services and other services and events, normally leading and/or playing as the principal worship leader. 

• Work collaboratively with the Vicar, staff, PCC members, and volunteers to develop and deliver a clear vision and strategy for the worship, ensuring alignment with the wider mission of St John’s. 

• Model worship that invites full participation, preparing thoroughly while staying responsive to the Spirit in the moment. 

• Identify, create and initiate new evangelistic opportunities where people can encounter worship. 

• Build, train, develop and coordinate a worship team that pursues both musical excellence and authentic, Christ-centred worship, equipping them to lead the congregation with skill, humility and faith. 

• Oversee the song library, song choices, keys and arrangements, gathering input from worship team members while ensuring final selections remain accessible for the whole congregation to sing. 

• To follow and uphold the church's safeguarding policies, procedures and practices, working in accordance with relevant safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and Church of England safeguarding requirements. 

About you  

We are looking for someone who:  

• Is a committed evangelical Christian, in love with Jesus, who actively lives out their faith that aligns with Biblical teaching and hold a spirit led Christian faith. 

• Is committed to being a full and active member of the church, supporting its mission, aims and values.   

• Is a competent and experienced worship leader with a heart to see the congregation encounter God’s presence in worship. 

• Is a confident vocalist, able to lead a room spiritually and musically in both planned and responsive worship. 

• Is proficient in their own instrument(s) one being guitar or piano, who understands band dynamics. 

• Can build, encourage and develop volunteer teams, helping others grow in confidence and use their gifts.   

• Is able to work collaboratively across multiple ministries and with others. 

• Desirably, has experience of leading worship within a charismatic evangelical setting.
