Youth and Families Worker Radyr Methodist Church, Cardiff

We are looking for someone special, could that be you?

Radyr Methodist Church is seeking to recruit a Spirit-led, relational and enthusiastic Youth and Families Worker to join our pioneering team to help us nurture disciples of all ages and share Christ's love within our community. We long to see children, young people, and families grow in faith, flourish in fellowship, and discover their God-given gifts.

Radyr is located on the western outskirts of Cardiff surrounded by a rapidly growing housing development. The Methodist Church is situated at the heart of the community of Radyr near the local shops.

We have an average weekly congrega>on of 70 which is steadily growing and is diverse in terms of age and nationality. We work to intentionally welcome all newcomers and to meet folk where they are in their faith journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Church Ministry: Assist the Minister with existing activities. Help shape our all-age worship, including the leading of worship and development of older children’s groups.

• School Engagement: Build relationships with local schools including the Comprehensive school

• Leadership: Inspire our volunteers, identify new ministry opportunities, and grow the church’s presence in Radyr.

• Community Outreach: Launch and lead a new musical toddler group and other initiatives to support and bless families and connect with our local community.

We’re looking for a committed Christian who:

Has a heart for children’s and family ministry, with a desire to share faith in engaging ways.

Is creative, proactive, inclusive, relational and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Has experience in community outreach, children’s work, or church ministry (training can be provided for the right candidate).

Is excited about pioneering new initiatives and investing in long- term growth.

Is digitally literate

Is willing to be based within the church and help lead worship

Is able to articulate and model their faith

Is enthusiastic about trying new things, relational in temperament and open to being a consistent presence on a Sunday.

Is committed to ensuring that we are safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

The ability to speak Cantonese would be desirable but not essential

Working 20 hours a week (starting salary £14,762) for a fixed term of 3 years alongside our Minister, volunteers and wider church family, you’ll be supported by a committed team as you bring fresh energy, ideas and vision.

Appointment subject to two references and a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and all relevant safeguarding requirements.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

It is an Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 that the post-holder is a practising Christian.
