Children’s and Family Worker
Job Purpose:
-To engage with children, young people and their families to help enrich their
development and faith
-To organise and promote children’s and youth activities within the Church and
advertise these to the local community
Responsibilities
- To work with the Minister/Youth and Children’s Elder to develop and set up
activities to support families e.g after school homework club, youth activities,
children’s programme
- To build on links with local schools to help deliver Christian assemblies
- To prioritise excellent Safeguarding practices
- To oversee and develop the children’s programme at Church services and other
events
- To help organise rotas of helpers for youth and children’s activities
- To help explore new ways of engaging with schools, children and families
- To build links with other churches to foster ecumenical youth/children’s activities
- To create/update the social media accounts of the Church with on-going and
future events.
- To publicise Church activities on local community social media platforms
Person Specification
- Practicing Christian
- Good understanding of Christian theology
- Experience of working with families and children in a Church or educational
setting
- Competence with administrative software and the internet
- Use of social media
- Self-motivated and organised
- Relates well with children, young people and adults
- Creative and flexible
Contract
Full time or flexible part-time 22 hours+ per week; 3 year fixed term contract
initially. Salary c.£30,000 p.a.f.t.e.
