We are hiring a Youth Worker who will develop, lead, and nurture the faith of young people across Burghfield and Mortimer villages. Mortimer and Burghfield Methodist Churches have growing numbers of young people in their congregations. At Mortimer four teenagers and six primary school aged children regularly worship, and at Burghfield eight teenagers and 12 primary school aged children are present most Sundays. Beyond Sunday worship, the secondary school aged children attend a fortnightly Sunday evening youth club, along with another dozen young people from a neighbouring church. An additional mid-week group is being set up, and a Bible study for the older young people (16+ ) is running this summer – shared with a third local free church. Summer holiday clubs are often run with other local churches, and youth weekends, firework nights, BBQs, alpha courses and baptisms are part of both churches’ heritage. We are looking to recruit a self-motivated individual for a busy and varied strategic oversight role working both within our existing team and with a range of stakeholders from across the public, third and faith sectors. The primary focus is to oversee and develop youth mission and provision across the parish of Keighley, both on a Sunday morning and throughout the week. This includes developing and building our youth team.
