We are hiring a Youth Worker who will develop, lead, and nurture the faith of young people across Burghfield and Mortimer villages. Mortimer and Burghfield Methodist Churches have growing numbers of young people in their congregations. At Mortimer four teenagers and six primary school aged children regularly worship, and at Burghfield eight teenagers and 12 primary school aged children are present most Sundays. Beyond Sunday worship, the secondary school aged children attend a fortnightly Sunday evening youth club, along with another dozen young people from a neighbouring church. An additional mid-week group is being set up, and a Bible study for the older young people (16+ ) is running this summer – shared with a third local free church. Summer holiday clubs are often run with other local churches, and youth weekends, firework nights, BBQs, alpha courses and baptisms are part of both churches’ heritage. The Pioneer Families Worker will nurture, develop, and oversee children and families ministry at Andover Methodist Church , while also pioneering a new expression of church and community engagement among families on the Picket Twenty housing development .   The role combines pastoral care, missional outreach, community building, and faith exploration , with a particular focus on families who may have little or no prior connection to church. An exciting new role involving a 50:50 split of time each week, focusing on developing the youth ministry of St Thomas’ Church and developing Wiltshire Youth for Christ's community and school-based ministry in the Trowbridge area. You will engage with young people, allowing them to encounter the Good News in ways relevant to their lives and become grounded in their faith as disciples of Jesus.  This role includes being rooted in a church with St Thomas' , while also reaching out into the community with Wiltshire Youth for Christ .
