Fundraising and Development Manager

£30,000 - £35,000 yearly

Do you have the skills to secure funding, build partnerships, and tell powerful stories of impact? We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced and proactive person to manage and lead the fundraising activities for our charity and build a sustainable, long-term growth strategy.

The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery and demonstrate a strong commitment to the Centre’s Christian ethos and the sharing of the Gospel.

About Us

Heatree Activity Centre exists to help children and young people discover more about the Christian faith through outdoor adventure. For over 35 years, Heatree has provided a safe, exciting, and transformative environment where thousands of young people have encountered God.

As we continue to grow our ministry and invest in key capital improvements across the site, we are seeking a Fundraising and Development Manager to help resource and advance our mission.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Lead fundraising strategy and bid development

  • Develop and deliver Heatree’s annual fundraising strategy
  • Identify grant and funding opportunities and write compelling, mission-aligned proposals
  • Build and maintain a strong funding pipeline and steward relationships with funders

Build and strengthen partnerships

  • Engage churches, Christian organisations, trusts and community partners
  • Represent the charity at events, networks, festivals and conferences
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments

Monitor and communicate impact

  • Develop tools to measure outcomes, spiritual impact and social value
  • Produce reports, case studies and stories that showcase God’s work at Heatree
  • Support continuous improvement across funded projects

Play an active part in our Christian ethos

  • Participate in team prayers and uphold Heatree’s Christian vision and mission
  • Speak at churches and prayer groups
  • Host groups during occasional weekends or school holidays (up to four times per year)

What experiences and qualities are we looking for?

Essential:

  • Proven experience in fundraising, grant management, bid writing, or community development
  • Excellent writing, research, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organisational and project management ability
  • High attention to detail and strong administrative skills
  • Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure
  • Commitment to Heatree’s Christian vision, mission and values
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends as required

Desirable:

  • Experience in a charity or faith-based organisation
  • Knowledge of charity governance, compliance and reporting
  • Background in youth work, outdoor education or Christian ministry

Good to know

  • It is an Occupational Requirement that the holder of this post is a practising Christian, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, whose lifestyle is consistent with the values and principles of the Christian faith.
  • Weekend hosting work will occasionally be required, but limited to four weekends a year and on a rota basis.
  • As part of our commitment to safeguarding, the successful applicant will be required to have a DBS check.
