Rector

Job Description

Are you an experienced and dynamic church leader with a passion for Bible teaching and leadership? Is whole life discipleship important to you? Are you an evangelical and enthusiastic enabler that longs to see people grow and develop with a rich, deep and rooted faith in Jesus? Is leadership one of your spiritual gifts?

If so, we’d love you to read on and prayerfully consider if God might be calling you to be the next Rector at Ps & Gs.

Ps & Gs is a vibrant Scottish Episcopal Church in the centre of Edinburgh with an active and growing congregation of around 1,200 and a staff team of 21.

Our current Rector, Rev Canon Dr Dave Richards, plans to retire after 30 years of ministry at Ps & Gs. We want to ensure a smooth transition of leadership that involves a handover period from Dave to his successor.

We are seeking a passionate and gifted leader to become our Rector and lead Ps & Gs at this exciting time in the life of the church. More information can be found on our website or on the attached documents. Please be assured of our prayers as you seek whether God may be guiding you to lead Ps & Gs.

Please note that applicants must:

  • be an experienced and dynamic Christian leader;
  • be able to commit fully to the vision, values and strategy of Ps & Gs;
  • be generously orthodox and evangelical in theology;
  • be an ordained priest within the Anglican Communion;
  • be willing to start the role initially as Rector-designate with a maximum handover period of 6 months; and
  • already have the right to live and work in the UK.

The appointment will also be subject to you obtaining a satisfactory PVG Scheme Record through Disclosure Scotland.

Key dates

Closing date for applications: Friday 27 March at 12.00 pm (noon)

Initial interviews will take place during the weeks beginning Monday 27 April and Monday 4 May 2026 in person at Ps & Gs Church.
