ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for someone who comes alive when they see children discovering who God is and what faith can look like in their everyday world. At ECN, we want every child from early childhood through the end of primaryschool age (0-11s) to feel safe, welcomed, and excited to learn about Jesus in ways that connect with them.

This role is all about shaping that kind of environment – building a ministry that’s vibrant, nurturing, and rooted in a genuine love for God and for families. You’ll oversee our Sunday kids programmes, champion children’s discipleship, support parents and carers, and help ensure children are woven into the life of the wider church.

If you’re passionate about investing in the next generation and you bring both creativity and compassion, we’d love to hear from you.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

1. Discipleship and Faith Formation

  • Oversee and help lead Sunday children’s groups (Crèche, God Tots, Blue Group, Red Group, Green Group), ensuring sessions are biblical, fun, and well‑prepared.
  • Curate and adapt an engaging discipleship curriculum for children aged 0-11, drawing on established resources and shaping them for our context.
  • Build meaningful relationships with children and support their spiritual growth.
  • Support smooth transitions between age groups, especially into Youth.

2. Leading and Developing the Team

  • Provide vision and direction for the Kids Ministry.
  • Recruit, train, equip, and support volunteers.
  • Coordinate rotas and ensure teams are well‑resourced.
  • Offer pastoral and line managerial support to key kids leaders and volunteers.

3. Caring for Children and Families

  • Work with the Pastoral Team to support families and make appropriate referrals.
  • Support the Pastoral Team with child dedications.
  • Collaborate with the SEN Team to support children with additional needs (SEN) or complex backgrounds.
  • Resource and encourage parents and carers as they disciple their children at home.

4. Administration and Safeguarding

  • Ensure safeguarding is exemplary and consistently upheld across all children’s activities.
  • Maintain accurate registers, records, and databases.
  • Oversee DBS checks and safeguarding training for all kids volunteers.
  • Manage budgets and produce reports as needed.

5. Mission, Community, and Outreach

These responsibilities represent areas we hope to develop further if the role expands to full‑time, either now or in the future.

  • Create midweek opportunities that deepen faith and community.
  • Plan and deliver family events that build connection and welcome newcomers.
  • Lead and grow holiday clubs.
  • Build relationships with local schools and lead seasonal outreach (e.g., Christmas, Easter).
  • Explore new ways to engage families in the community.

6. Additional

From time to time, any other tasks necessary for the smooth running of ECN across any ministry area.
