The Role
As a Business Development Manager, you will take ownership of identifying and securing new opportunities across the West Midlands region. This is a strategic and hands-on role where you will drive growth across key programmes including Restart, Welfare to Work (W2W), employability initiatives, and apprenticeships.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and executing a regional business development strategy aligned with growth targets
* Identifying, pursuing, and securing new contracts and funding opportunities
* Building and managing relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, commissioners, and employers
* Leading on bid writing, tenders, and proposal development
* Collaborating with internal delivery teams to ensure successful implementation and scalability of programmes
* Monitoring market trends, policy developments, and funding changes within the employability and skills sector

Ideal Candidate
To succeed in this position, you will bring a strong background in business development within the employability or skills landscape, with a proven ability to win and grow contracts.
You will have:
* Demonstrable experience working across Restart, Welfare to Work (W2W), employability programmes, and/or apprenticeships
* A solid understanding of the UK skills and employability ecosystem
* A track record of securing new business and managing the full BD lifecycle
* Experience building partnerships across public and private sector stakeholders
* Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
* A proactive, self-driven approach with the ability to operate autonomously
