Parish of Hawkwell, Essex

Full Time 38 hours per week (part-time considered)
Salary: £28,000–£30,000 (depending on qualifications and experience)

The Parish of Hawkwell is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Children, Young People and Families Worker to join us in our mission to: Love God, love our neighbour and make disciples.

We are a warm and welcoming evangelical Anglican parish in South East Essex, with two church buildings—St Mary’s and Emmanuel—and a vision to be: A church family of all generations, worshipping God in spirit and in truth

This exciting role offers the opportunity to build on and develop our growing ministry with children, young people and families.

You will:

  • Lead and coordinate our Sunday children’s and youth ministry
  • Oversee our popular monthly Saturday evening Messy Church
  • Support our thriving weekly parent and toddler group
  • Help develop ministry with teenagers and youth outreach
  • Build relationships with families in the wider community
  • Work with local schools and support holiday activities
  • Encourage and equip volunteers
  • Develop new mission opportunities as God leads

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a vibrant and committed Christian faith
  • Is passionate about helping children and young people flourish
  • Has experience in children’s and/or youth ministry
  • Is a gifted leader who can inspire volunteers and families
  • Has strong communication and organisational skills
  • Is self-motivated, flexible and team-oriented
  • Has pastoral sensitivity and a heart for outreach

A relevant qualification in children’s, youth or theological studies is desirable.

Genuine Occupational Requirement

Due to the nature of this role, there is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder be a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
