We are seeking someone to play a key role in the work of the West Midlands Synod of the United Reformed Church. Based at our office in Yardley, Birmingham, you will support the Finance Officer in the accounting and financial management work of the Synod’s affairs, providing cover for her as necessary. You will also liaise with the Honorary Treasurer and provide advice and support to local churches and other Synod staff.
Although you will need strong technical skills, we are looking for much more than that. You will need to be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with good problem-solving skills, and someone who is able to work effectively both in a team and by using your own initiative. You will have a suitable professional qualification and experience of financial matters, preferably relevant to a church, charity or not-for-profit organisation. You must be able to learn quickly about the way the Synod works.
One year fixed term contract with possibility of extension

The United Reformed Church, West Midlands Trust Ltd is a charitable trust. The West Midlands Synod is one of 13 synods of the United Reformed Church. It covers the area from the Welsh borders across to Rugby, and from Leek in North Staffordshire southwards to Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire. At the time of writing this includes 93 churches.
The Trust's employees are based in the Synod Office and provide administrative, legal, property and governance support to churches and ministers in the area. Some of the posts include hybrid working.
