New Team SCIO is a Christian charity, alongside young people who hang out on the streets of Govan. We aim to support physical, social, emotional and spiritual development. We make connections with young people through street/detached youth work, strengthening those relationships through other youth work activities, for example trips. We are alongside and serve young people on the streets whether they are interested in finding out more about God or not. We make space for young people to ask us questions about what we believe. The detached youth work sessions target 11-18 year olds but we engage with younger age groups where appropriate and relevant. If we have worked with young people before they turn 18 and if they want to, we carry on working with them until they are 21.

We are a strengths based team that value lived experience. We work with employees to develop shift patterns that work well for both young people and employees.

Design your own job for your skills and availability.

Roles can include some or all of these tasks

  • 3 hour street youth work sessions, including prep and debrief (Govan)
  • Other youth work sessions e.g. trips
  • Admin and/or Fundraising (work from home)
  • Volunteer & supporter liaison (from home, & in person meetings)

Quotes from people who have previously done this job:

  • "I liked getting to know the young people and being able to invest in them in the long-term."
  • "I think my role has helped me to trust God more."
  • "I enjoyed the team dynamics, valuing and working to each other's strengths."
  • "I liked having a two hour walk twice a week."
  • "I enjoyed the emphasis on prayer."

Please note we do not have a building. Most non-youth work tasks are done from home.

New Team prioritises keeping young people safe, so we have a child protection policy, all youth work jobs are subject to PVG and we only accept applications by application form, never by CV.

Active Christian faith and a live church connection essential. (Occupational Requirements in terms of the Equality Act 2010.)

We try to prevent people spending time on an application form if the job is not for them and the chat will also help you to fill out the form well.
