Training Centre Warden

Job Description

Could you be the welcoming face and steady hands behind a much-loved Training and Activity Centre?

The Boys’ Brigade Northwest District Training and Activity Centre is looking for a practical, organised and people-focused Training Centre Warden to help keep our Centre safe, welcoming, well maintained and ready for groups to enjoy. Based at Carr Lane, Treales, Preston, this is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys working independently, solving problems, supporting visitors and helping create positive experiences for young people, volunteers, churches and community groups.

You will be the key operational point of contact for the Centre: preparing facilities for bookings, welcoming groups, keeping buildings and grounds safe and presentable, supporting events, coordinating maintenance, maintaining records and helping the Centre continue to thrive as a place of activity, fellowship and adventure.

A small self-contained flat is provided, and the successful candidate will be expected to live on site. This live-in arrangement is central to the role, helping ensure the Centre is well cared for, secure and responsive to the needs of visiting groups.

About the Role

As Training Centre Warden, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the smooth running of the Centre. You will make sure guests receive a friendly welcome, facilities are clean and ready to use, safety checks and compliance records are kept up to date, and any maintenance or operational issues are dealt with promptly and professionally.

You will work closely with Trustees, the Centre Management Committee, volunteers, contractors and visiting groups, playing a central role in protecting the Centre’s reputation and ensuring it remains a safe, cared-for and inspiring place for all who use it.

What We’re Looking For

·         A friendly, reliable and proactive person who takes pride in high standards.

·         Someone with experience of premises, facilities, hospitality, activity centre, campsite, community building or similar operations.

·         A confident communicator who can support visitors, volunteers, contractors and committee members with professionalism and warmth.

·         A practical problem-solver who can work independently, manage priorities and respond calmly when things need attention.

·         Someone who understands the importance of safeguarding, health and safety, security, housekeeping and good record keeping.

·         A person who is sympathetic to the Christian ethos and values of The Boys’ Brigade and committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for young people.

Why This Role Matters

The Centre exists to support young people, leaders and groups in learning, growing, sharing experiences and building lasting memories. The Warden plays a vital role in making that possible by ensuring the site is safe, welcoming, organised and ready for every booking. If you enjoy making things work well behind the scenes while also being at the heart of a valued community facility, this could be the ideal role for you.
